Description

The Pressed Flowers Cardigan, designed by Amy Christoffers, is worked in one piece from the bottom up. Per the designer, this is an easy to wear, relaxed fit, V-neck cardigan with an allover mosaic pattern.

Mosaic knitting is a fun, easy way to knit with two colors and achieve dramatic results without the stress of carrying two colors across a row. Each row of knitting is done with only one color at a time. The stitches in the second color are slipped without being knitted.

In this class we will cover:

  • Swatching for gauge in pattern.
  • How to manage casting on a large number of stitches.
  • Bottom up (all in one piece) sweater construction.
  • Mosaic knitting worked flat (on the body) and in the round (on the sleeves).
  • Following a chart for mosaic knitting.
  • Button bands and buttonholes

Adventurous Advanced Beginner Skill Level (and up): must be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, work basic stitch patterns with combinations of knits and purls, simple increases/decreases, and follow written instructions. Ability to read a chart is helpful, though not required.

Class meets Thursdays, December 14, January 4, 18, and February 8 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
