I designed the Hurricane Watch Cap during Hurricane Sandy ~ hence the name.
The most common thing I hear about Noro Kureyon (after how awesome the colorways are) is that it is too scratchy to wear against the skin. The Hurricane Watch Cap solves that problem. Here you can play with the colors and have soft merino against your skin.
The brim of the hat is knit with Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran and then contrast stripes of reverse stockinette are knit with Kureyon. You can use leftovers for the stripes or use the colors of one skein.
The hat has three sizes based on head circumference: child 19” (small /medium adult 21, medium/large adult 23)”. It knits up quick and has a slight slouch to it. If you want it more slouchy, continue in pattern for the desired extra slouch (allowing for more aran weight yarn) before beginning the decreases. Conversely, if you want a more fitted cap, take out a repeat.
