Sometimes you need a little instant gratification

I’m working on two big projects: Shakespeare Cardigan and Color Affection. Although I am enjoying them, I really needed to start and finish something in quick order.

Malabrigo Rasta is perfect for this.  It’s 100% merino, super bulky, 2 sts/1″, 90 yards of hand-painted loveliness.  One of the most satisfying yarns out there.  I had a break in the day where I could sit outside and enjoy the day.  I cast on for the LTYC Super Bulky Cowl.  The pattern called for #15 needles, so I used #13.

Tucker’s leash is lodged under my chair to allow for hands-free doggie sitting.  He kept entangling himself around the patio furniture.  Creates a good mental exercise in how to extract himself.  Time consuming too.

The color is “Azules”, a beautiful blending of blues, purples and a little teal.

Literally an hour later I was halfway through the skein.  When I reached 7″ (arbitrary), I switched to #15 needles so that the bottom of the cowl would be subtly larger than the top.  It’s barely discernible.  It makes the cowl open up a little.

I’d say all in all, this cowl took no longer than 2.5 hours.  I feel revitalized and ready to tackle the bigger projects.  Definitely worth the price of admission.
